TV Stands - TV Consoles

With the emphasis on big screen TV's today, and the extras that come along with them, like DVD's and video game systems, your house will need TV stands or TV consoles in the living room, family room and bedrooms. There are various types of stands on the market, and you'll want to find one that works well with the size of your TV.

First, you'll ask yourself what kind of TV stands you're looking for. This is dependent on the size of your TV's and the rooms where they are located. If you don't have space for a full sized entertainment center, then a TV stand can work well to set-up the TV and all the electronics that come along with it. Read more

You will find many types of TV consoles available that might work for your home. A TV console is generally a smallish piece of furniture, and you basically set your TV atop it. Most models have some kind of storage as well, for DVR's, DVD players and cable boxes, as well as storage space for media like DVD's and video games. A TV console doesn't have a large footprint like an entertainment center, and it can make your TV a focal point.

TV stands may be dwarfed by the largest entertainment centers, but they don't need to be necessarily small, themselves. They can hold most any size of TV, including big screens, flat screens and plasma TVs. They are a bit like an entertainment center in miniature, since they can also store things in addition to the TV.

The best TV consoles have shelving or storage room for all the extras that come with TV's today, and you'll want to select a console that fits well with the decor in each room where one will be used. Size is not usually a problem, but don't get a larger console if you'll be placing it in a small corner. Find a place where you can fit the console, the TV and all the media accessories you'll need.

As compared to entertainment centers, which can be truly huge, TV stands are more minimalistic in style. You can still have plenty of room for the size of TV that you own, and any DVD's or equipment that you want to store there. You can also buy units that will sit alongside your stand, to hold more accessories and cable boxes or DVR's.

TV consoles should match the basic style of the rooms you use them in, whether they happen to be traditional or contemporary. If you have the latter style, you may choose consoles made from metal and glass, with sleek and clean lines. If your other furnishings are more traditional, select a console that is made of wood, in warm and rich colors. Keep in mind your overall decor before you buy a TV console, and select one that fits in well.

Pick the spot in each room that will have a TV, to find the best locations for your unit. Work with the space that you have available, and select from TV consoles and TV stands that will work best for each room.
