If you are looking for the perfect family getaway spot without having to travel outside of the United States, then go no further than the state of California. California has plenty to offer its visitors, from lush wine valleys to high mountain skiing in the wintertime. The southern part of California is partial desert, and the world famous scorching Death Valley can be found here. However, you may be on your own, if you decide to venture around these parts, since summer temperatures can soar to over 120 degrees! With the exception of this hot arid region, California has beautiful weather all year long. Many cities, such as San Francisco, are located along the Pacific coast and have refreshing marine climate breezes, which keeps the temperatures in check at all times. Mark Twain once said “the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Temperatures in this California city average in the 70’s with lows dropping into the 50’s. This temperature domain holds true during all four seasons, including summer! Other cities such as Sacramento and Elk Grove also have comfortable weather. California has many tourist attractions, such as Disney Land and Universal Studios. There is no shortage of fine dining and furniture stores either. Just take a stroll down Rodeo Drive in Los Angles, California among the upscale clothing and furniture stores, and you will quickly find out how much people love to spend money.

San Francisco, California should definitely be included on your itinerary. Home to Alcatraz Island, many tourists flock to San Francisco, which is a coastal city, every year to take a boat ride across the bay and check out the famous prison. Hear about the stories of the greatest escape attempts in American history as you tour through this historical place. Don’t be surprised either to bump into a ghost or two out on this island. There have been many rumors about the old San Francisco prison being haunted, since its abandonment back in the 1960’s. After you return from Alcatraz Island, then take a walk down to San Francisco’s famous Pier 39. While on the Pier, you can browse the outside souvenir stores along the dock. There are also plenty of hungry seals waiting for you to throw them a fish. These interactive animals will add joy to your day and put a smile on the children’s face. Don’t forget to shop also while you are in San Francisco. There are a variety of stores, which offer superb shopping for clothing, furniture, and much more. The street of Haight Ashbury will allow you to step back into the psychedelic 60’s on your excursion through the many furniture stores. Many San Francisco stores on this street offer antique collectibles from this time period, including beautiful furniture with a mod flair. Let the tie-dyes flow as you sink your body into a unique eggshell chair, a comfortable 60’s sofa, and other fine furniture products within these San Francisco stores.

When your legs start to grow tired from all the clothing and furniture sightseeing, then sit down at one of San Francisco’s many fine restaurants for a bite to eat. Scrumptious seafood, Asian cuisine, and all your other favorites abound in this California city. On your way back to the hotel room be sure to walk the wavy streets of San Francisco. You will notice that this California city has a lot of peaks and valleys, along with gorgeous homes with exquisite furniture, which are lined up next to each other row by row. These homes are special to San Francisco and are extremely hard to find elsewhere in the country.

When your stay in San Francisco is winding down, don’t get depressed. California has numerous other locations with fun and exciting features, ranging from souvenir stores to historical tours. The city of Sacramento is a good example. Sacramento is the capital of California and has a wonderful history. John Sutter discovered gold back in 1848 just 30 miles to the east of Sacramento. The result was the famous Gold Rush, which led to one of the largest migrations of people into the Sacramento region, during this time period. Scenic rivers and bountiful green trees dot the region of Sacramento with archaic beauty. Sacramento is cosmopolitan in nature with tall glass buildings, numerous furniture stores and vast restaurants. Sacramento has an Old World western feel, and you will notice this in the many museums and monuments around the area. Furniture stores incorporate some of this western flair into their product, making your Sacramento shopping experience even more fun. There are also other furniture stores, which offer a mix of contemporary and urban to the buyer.

Old Sacramento will allow you to step back in time to the Gold Rush era. This 28-acre town is comprised of Sacramento’s famous historic buildings, antique furniture stores, and many museums. Wooden sidewalks line the streets, as horse-drawn carriages will carry you, and your family for a once in a lifetime adventure. You can pick up a souvenir in one of the many stores. The Pony Express monuments and the Mississippi style Riverboats will add to the nostalgic appeal of this unique California city.

Elk Grove is another beautiful place to visit after your stop in Sacramento. Elk Grove is the second fastest growing city in California, and the population is expanding rapidly. This means furniture stores and service businesses are performing very well within this region and will continue to do so. Shop in one of Elk Grove’s many stores for gorgeous furniture and other collectibles you may want to take home with you. Elk Grove is also known for the preservation of open land. Cosumens River Preserve and Stone Lakes Wild Life Refuge is just a couple of parks that spread out over the Elk Grove area. Homes in Elk Grove range from starter abodes to ranch estates, decked out in an array of different furniture styles. Elk Grove is a very family oriented city with excellent school systems and a small town feel. If you are vacationing in July, then take the family to the Elk Grove Salute to The Red, White, and Blue. This Elk Grove Fourth of July festival has whimsical music, good eating, and refreshing beverages. There is also a splendid fire works show to top off the event.

Whether you are visiting San Francisco, Sacramento, or Elk Grove, California is the place for fun and excitement. From fine dining to unique furniture stores, California and the cities of San Francisco, Sacramento, and Elk Grove will be sure to fulfill your fancy. There are plenty of tourist attractions as well, from the Elk Grove 4th of July festival to scenic tours of the wine valleys surrounding San Francisco.
